ACADEMY MANAGER - DAN HARRIS
Dan joined Oxford United in 2018 and has over 20 years experience working in Professional Football.
Previous stints on the first team coaching staff at Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Celtic FC were preceded by coaching roles in Academies at both Coventry City and Peterborough United alongside an itinerant role with the England Youth Teams as a Fitness Coach.
Prior to joining Oxford United, Dan spent 3 years as assistant manager working in the South Korean K -League
and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Science from Loughborough University; a Post-Graduate degree in Physical Education from University of Strathclyde; the UEFA A-Licence and is currently midway through his UEFA Pro Licence with the SFA.
HEAD OF ACADEMY COACHING - LES TAYLOR
LEAD PDP COACH (U18s & U23s) - LEON BLACKMORE-SUCH
Les came through the ranks as an apprentice at Oxford United and went on to play more than 550 senior games over the course of a 16-year professional career. A combative midfielder, Les joined Graham Taylor's Watford in 1980 and went on to captain the Hornets in the 1984 FA Cup Final against Everton in front of over 90,000 spectators.
After retiring from playing in 1990, Les re-joined Oxford United in a coaching capacity going on to work for the club for more than 25 years in variety of roles.
Les holds the Advanced Youth Award from the FA and is currently midway through the Elite Head of Coaching Course with the Premier League.
A former Oxford United Academy player, Leon began coaching with the Foundation age groups in 2012 and, over the last 7 years, has worked his way up to now lead our Professional Development Phase.
Leon holds the UEFA A-Licence and led the U18s to their first ever league title as an Academy in the 2018/19 season edging out Bournemouth and Portsmouth to secure top spot on the final day of the season.
Over his time with the Academy, Blackmore-Such has worked with many of the club's recent graduates including Shandon Baptiste, Malachi Napa and Fabio Lopes; helping to prepare them for the demands of First Team Football.
PDP COACH (U18s) - CHRIS HACKETT
Another graduate of the Oxford United Youth System, Chris played over 150 games for his hometown club before signing for SPL side Hearts in 2006.
After a 16-year career that also saw him play for Millwall and Northampton Town, Chris re-joined Oxford in 2017 as an Academy coach and is currently in his 3rd season working with our U18s.
Chris is currently completing his UEFA A-Licence with the English FA and works alongside Leon Blackmore-Such with our scholars on a daily basis.
YDP COACH (U16S) - DARREN PURSE
Darren Purse played over 700 Senior games in a 24 year career that saw him play at every level of the English Professional game.
Purse signed for Oxford United in 1996 playing over 60 games as an uncompromising Centre Half before going on to represent Birmingham City, West Brom and Cardiff in the Premier League.
Purse joined the OUFC Academy coaching staff on a part-time basis at the start of the 2018/19 season and plays a key role in preparing our U16s players for the demands of full-time Academy Football.
HEAD OF ACADEMY RECRUITMENT - GARETH HAMER
Gareth joined OUFC in 2018 having previously worked in the recruitment departments at West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Aston VIlla.
Hamer, who also previously held a senior position with the Junior Premier League, has overhauled the talent identification department at the Oxford United Academy including having established a network of Regional Training Centres across Oxfordshire that are official development pathways for both potential Academy players and coaches alike.
HEAD OF PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS - GAVIN BOORMAN
Gavin joined the OUFC Academy in 2019 having previously worked in the Performance Analysis departments at West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth.
A Graduate of Southampton Solent University's Football Studies course, Boorman brings with him first hand experience of working in a Premier League environment and oversees a department that provides performance video analysis support for all eleven Academy age-group teams.
Utilising software packages that include Hudl and SportsCode, Oxford United Academy's performance analysis department has built a strong reputation for supporting elite performance and as such acts as a training provider for students from a number of local universities.
HEAD OF ACADEMY SPORTS SCIENCE & MEDICINE - ANDREW CATON
Andrew joins the OUFC Academy with a wealth of knowledge, having previously worked at Premier League club Crystal Palace as Head of Academy Medicine. An ex-professional himself, Andrew oversees the medical and Sports Science provision across the U7s-U23s programme managing a growing and forward-thinking department.
Andrew has sat on the Premier League Audit advisory panel for Medical Services and is well known in the area having played not only for Oxford United but also local side North Leigh.
SENIOR ACADEMY PHYSIOTHERAPIST (U18S) - LUIS FERREIRA
A former employee of Crystal Palace FC, Ferreira joined the club at the start of the 2020/21 season having worked alongside Andrew Caton previously.
Luis works predominantly with our U18s group providing physiotherapy and medical support for our young apprentices. Luis, who has also previously had experience working in Football, works closely with the club's Sports Science department to ensure our young players are prepared for the demands of elite level competition.
LEAD PHASE COACH - PABLO HAYSHAM
Pablo joined the club on a full-time basis at the start of the 2019/20 season have previously coached part-time across the schoolboy age-groups for seven years
Pablo, a MSc graduate in Sports Coaching from Hartpury College, has also had a profilic non-league playing career that saw him play in the FA Vase final at Wembley for Hereford United back in 2016.
As as Phase Lead coach, Pablo sits on the club's Academy Management Team alongside overseeing our U7s-U11s programme.
HEAD OF EDUCATION & PLAYER CARE - MATT JARVIS
Matt joined the club in the newly-created role of Head of Education & Player Care at the start of the 2019/20 season.
A qualified PE Teacher who also holds the UEFA B Coaching Licence, Matt has previously worked at Stoke City overseeing their successful RTC development Centres.
Matt is the safeguarding lead for the Academy and also coaches within the Foundation phase alongside his full-time role.
LEAD STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH - NATHAN GRIFFITH
Nathan joined the club in the 2018/19 season and oversees the physical development across the U9s-U23s programme.
A MSc graduate in Strength & Conditioning, Nathan has worked with athletes from a range of sports and has a specialist interest in speed and power development.
Nathan provides matchday sports science support for both our U18s and U23s squads and also oversees the physical testing programme across the Academy age groups.
